uPVC has been around for a while now as a material for doors and windows. But there’s a lot more you can do with it - a perfect example is to add it as cladding to the outside of your home.
But what are the benefits of uPVC that make it so popular for these purposes?
Top of the list is the longevity of it. Because it is a man-made material, it is unaffected by things like mould and doesn’t rot the way wood does over time. It holds it’s shape even when being pounded by the sun or frozen by sub-zero temperatures and doesn’t swell or compress.
Another big tick in its box is the lack of maintenance. Yes, you do need to clean it but a bucket of warm water and soap with a cloth or a mop will do the job nicely. You don’t paint it so there’s no touching up or repainting to do. No varnish, stain or other finish needed. Just a quick wash when it is looking a little dusty or dirty.
uPVC is also very tough and can withstand impacts and other debris hitting it much better than wood. Plus if there is an extreme situation and there’s damage, it is a simple thing for an expert to come and remove the damaged area and install a replacement.
All in all, it is a tough and smart looking material that will enhance your home however you use it.
Thanks David and his team for installing roofline at my home. I was delighted with the results.
