People often ask us ‘when should I replace my roofline’ and this is a tricky question to answer. There’s no right or wrong answer but there are signs and things to watch for that can help us make the decision on whether replacements are needed.
For starters, if your roofline features wooden elements and these haven’t been replaced in the last 10 years or so, it is worth having a look. This probably means they are the original fascias and soffits that were added when the house was built and is made from wood, deteriorate over time.
f you noticed cracks in any of the roofline elements or paint is peeling, this is also a sign they’ve been there for a while and may need replacements. uPVC doesn’t need paint so there’s nothing to crack - cracked paint means wood underneath.
Check your roofline - can you see something that looks like ventilation? From the inside, can you spot where the air can flow? If not, then this is worth having someone inspect because a lack of ventilation in the loft can lead to damp problems. Or maybe the ventilation has become blocked.
Finally, if there are any signs that water or pests are getting into the house through the roof area, then having someone inspect the roofline is key. Weaknesses can be small and almost impossible to spot from the ground but can lead to major problems if left unchecked.
Thanks David and his team for installing roofline at my home. I was delighted with the results.
